After all the efforts of the last few days (which definitely paid off), we approached today's day in a relaxed manner. After finally getting a good night's sleep in our king-size bed at the hostel, we had a hearty breakfast on the rooftop terrace with breathtaking views. There's nothing like a fresh papaya-pineapple-orange juice in the morning!
Then we started our Cusco exploration tour. Unfortunately, there was a big disappointment right at the beginning; the Inca Museum was closed. As a kind of compensation, we treated ourselves to a second breakfast in the artist district of San Blas and browsed through the numerous small arts and crafts shops. After that, we wandered around the city for a while, more or less aimlessly.
That was not easy, because Cusco is located at an altitude of 3,500 meters and the many winding alleyways are often steep uphill. The altitude is also responsible for the icy cold nights here and the intense sunlight during the day. Our sunscreen is slowly running out.
In the afternoon, we visited the chocolate museum and enjoyed a hot chocolate and a brownie in the café there. Afterwards, we visited the Santo Domingo Cathedral at Plaza de Armas, one of the largest churches in the Americas.
In the evening, we ended the day in an excellent restaurant with a burrito, alpaca steak, and a burger.
