and again: Happy new Year ❤️Objavljeno: 01.01.2019
Hi guys,
Happy New Year from New Zealand! On Sunday, December 30, 2018, we didn't do much except work.
Yesterday morning we went back to work. In summary, after our 70-hour week, we were able to recover well this week as the work was really relaxing. The weather here has been amazing for days. Bright sunshine from morning to evening every day. It was the same yesterday, so we had our first New Year's Eve at 22 degrees and bright sunshine. During the day, we enjoyed a few ice-cold Coronas with lime, listened to music, and spent the evening with a few other travelers. So far so good, but when we brought out a Franconian schnapps from the reserve, which we received as a gift from a few nice Germans when they left, it was the beginning of the end. In no time at all, I found myself lying on the grass unable to think clearly before midnight. So I ended up sleeping into the new year! 😅
For Pascal, he went into town for a short while to watch the fireworks, but it turned out that the Kiwis don't know how to do it at all. Since fireworks are banned for private individuals in New Zealand, there are only city-led fireworks displays. Pascal went to Nelson's New Year's fireworks with high expectations and said he had never seen such a short fireworks display before. When everyone started clapping and then turned away after 3 rockets, he couldn't believe that was it, but it was. The New Zealanders don't seem to consider fireworks on New Year's Eve as important as we do.
This morning we both woke up feeling completely hungover and started the year 2019 with pretty bad headaches. After a few hours of looking somewhat presentable again, we went to "McDonalds" and had a hearty hangover breakfast, which was like heaven on earth for me at that moment.
At noon, I then started the German year 2019 via video call with Ann-Estelle, Mom, Dad, and Lara, and to be honest, it was only at that moment that I really felt like it was the year 2019. So at least I had the opportunity to witness a New Year's Eve. It was very nice to be part of it despite the great distance.
The rest of the day we spent at the beach, slept a little, got some tan, and recovered a bit.
Tomorrow we will be going to work at 2.5 times the normal pay. We were supposed to have the day off, but yesterday we were informed that we have to work spontaneously. However, the extra pay makes it not too bad.
I wish you all a happy New Year 2019 and hope you had a great start. Here's to a successful year with many great experiences.
Greetings from Nelson, New Zealand! 🇳🇿
Your Tim! 😊
