A day in the snow

Objavljeno: 05.08.2017

Hello everyone,

a very beautiful day has come to an end.

Today, my hosts invited me to go snowboarding. We left at around 9 o'clock to go to the ski resort, which is located at Lake Ohau. After buying a beginner's pass and renting snowboard boots, we were ready to go. First, we slid down the mountain slowly on the heel edge. After a short time, one of their friends came by and showed me how to ride from one side to the other on the heel edge. Then we did the same thing on the toe edge, facing the valley. It was a bit scary at first because the "abyss" was behind me. After two laps, he left me to practice on my own. After a while, they came back to check on me, and apparently I did so well that he showed me how to connect the two techniques and make turns. After one lap where I could hold onto his hands, I had to try it on my own while he stayed nearby just in case. After two more laps, he left me alone to practice again, and guess what? I did it. Most of you have already seen the video that was taken. If you'd like to see it, feel free to let me know.

At around two o'clock, we drove back home, and I have to say, the road up the mountain is quite scary. No guardrails and a sheer drop that would be impossible to survive. I'm glad they're used to the route and there was no ice or snow on the "road". When we got back home, I packed my suitcase and had a cozy afternoon. Even though we were only on the mountain for a relatively short time, I'm quite exhausted and I can already feel the strain in my legs.

But I'm happy that I had the opportunity to practice and I'm now confident that the money I'll spend on snowboard school next week will be worth it and I'll enjoy it. I'm also glad that I'm not a complete beginner anymore, because I've already made a few turns. Although I'm pretty sure that next week I'll find myself in the snow a few more times.

Until then,

yours, Jessi
