Off to Flores - 9/22/19

The alarm clock rang at 6:15 am today - a nightmare -. We had ordered our driver for 7:30 am. The journey from Amed to the airport takes 3 hours with good traffic. 

We were still able to have a delicious breakfast and then we left at around 7:40 am. Although I was still tired, I didn't close my eyes throughout the entire journey to the airport. I am so impressed by the different landscapes/regions as well as the locals. I was able to take great photos over and over again. Daniela eventually laid down :-). 

After we left the coastal road, we drove through a mountain region. Here there were countless rice terraces, banana plantations, corn fields, etc. I could always observe the locals on the fields, harvesting or digging up fields with a small shovel. It looked like real hard work. Then suddenly monkeys were sitting by the roadside and jumping around in the trees. The driver kept pointing out where the monkeys were. That was also very funny. 

We also reached the airport within the specified 3 hours. Here I wanted to check us in at the counter of the wrong airline. The employee noticed and sent us to the right counter. Daniela just said; Anke, you already have your glasses on!!!! Yes, yes, I just wanted to test if they were paying attention...grins.

Now we are sitting at the gate and soon we will be able to board the plane. I will check in again from Flores.
