The next day started for us at 7 am. We were excited when we finally received our suitcases and started the day with fried eggs and typical Russian tea at the self-service restaurant "два рувля". We will have our breakfast and lunch here for the next 5 days.
The Russian food, especially breakfast, is very unusual for many of us, as it doesn't include jam or Nutella like the German breakfast does. Instead, it consists mainly of savory items such as sausages, cutlets, and herring salad. Fortunately, our requests are kindly taken and fulfilled as much as possible, so we don't have to completely give up our slice of bread for breakfast.
Later in the day, we got to know the university and realized that everything is completely different from Germany. The building is very old and unremarkable, and the hallways are small and dark. In a small classroom, our Russian teacher introduced herself to us, and we will deepen our knowledge of the Russian language with her in the mornings over the next few days.
In the evening, we were invited by the university to a folklore evening. There, we sang and danced to old Russian folk songs and got to know this culture a little more.
