Liverpool

Liverpool! Oh man, where do I even begin?

Liverpool has been my absolute highlight so far. I met a friend from Vietnam here, Fermin, who lives in a shared flat with other Spaniards. We stayed here for the three days we spent in Liverpool.

Liverpool has some really beautiful corners. On one hand, there are numerous bars (and usually clubs) where many young people hang out. We were constantly out and about, partying, playing pool or cards, eating, and drinking coffee. The coffee here is nothing special ... but the kebab! Oh my goodness. The English are generally incapable when it comes to kebabs ... I remember Till's first ciabatta bread with meat and a lettuce leaf ... but at Botan Kebap in Liverpool, I had one of the best kebabs I've ever had. It's definitely an advantage to have friends who know their way around.

Not to forget, Liverpool is the birthplace of one of the most famous bands in the world: The Beatles. Therefore, the whole city is influenced by these four men. But more on that later.

In Liverpool, there was once an agreement between Protestants and Catholics. In memory of this, a street connects the two churches. The modern Catholic church looks more like a spaceship, while the Protestant cathedral, at 101m high, is the tallest cathedral in the UK and the 5th tallest in the world. Construction of the cathedral began in 1904 and was not completed until 1978. But I have to say that since this comparison, I appreciate the Protestants more than the Catholics. They have a bar and a coffee shop in the church. Drinking coffee during the church service ... I find that sympathetic.

For those who know the series Peaky Blinders: one of their bars is also located here.

And the funniest thing of all was actually the statue of Queen Victoria, who holds her scepter in such a way that from the side it looks more like King Victoria.
