7.9. We get up and immediately start packing up for the journey. Our destination is Leavenworth, but we still have a few tasks to do along the way: in Moses Lake, we stop by an auto mechanic. The electronics in Carlito are acting up and the driver's side window no longer opens. Instead, the window slowly slides down a bit in the housing, causing unpleasant wind noises on the highway. The mechanic takes about 5 minutes and manages to fix the problem! We are happy!
The road takes us further through the Columbia Valley, passing fruit and wine plantations towards Wenatchee.
How do you say Bavarian in American English? Exactly, Leavenworth! We make a stop in this (almost) picturesque town. Leavenworth is a colorful mixture of a Bavarian mountain village with a Russian gift shop, a Danish bakery, organ music playing from the speakers, and old German script. OK. ;) In each restaurant, in addition to the usual hamburgers, you can get pretzels, white sausages, potato salad, sauerkraut, and apple strudel. The beer is served by the liter or even in a boot, and in addition to ketchup, there are three different types of mustard on the table this time! The change of paradigm is fun, also because the employees at "Andreas Keller" wear lederhosen and dirndls and then bring you a dark beer saying: "here is your Dankels". Delicious. ;)
We take advantage of the day and try to catch up on our blog. Roman writes a whole week's worth by hand, I write a little less, but I upload a similar amount of content with photos to our site. All in all, we spend almost 5 hours at RheinHaus, ordering a small snack every now and then and playing table football to our heart's content. The effort pays off and we are now almost up to date.
In the evening, we drive to a KOA campground - it could almost be considered glamping - the campground has a pool, a cinema, showers (the cleanest I have encountered so far), free WiFi on the site, ... for a price, of course. Although we had snacks throughout the day, we still cook and look for possible work away positions.
The night is humid and, for a change, we sweat again.
