The Vipassana Meditation near Jakarta was an incredibly valuable, intense and enriching experience.
The daily routine of the 10 days is highly structured and consists of 11 hours of meditation (partially together in the hall or in your own room), breakfast, lunch, tea break, an evening lecture, sessions that introduce the technique and short meditations with the Gurus. In between, I used the free time mostly for power naps at the beginning, as it can be really exhausting, or for doing laundry and taking a shower. The whole time, rules like observing noble silence, i.e. not having contact with anyone, not stealing, not lying, not killing (hence mainly vegan diet), apply. I had some aha moments and enlightenments, and the time with Vipassana was a very impressive experience for me, which I can highly recommend!
With El, who also participated in the meditation, I went to Jakarta after the 10 days, got to know her family there, and was able to stay with her for two nights.
After the 10 days of silence, we decided to be really loud again and scream...and spent a fun day at the amusement park in Jakarta :)
