16.06.2018 - Clearwater & Wells Gray National Park

Objavljeno: 16.06.2018

Today we chose Clearwater as our next destination to visit Wells Gray National Park. According to the internet, it is supposed to be very beautiful and worth seeing. So we set off again at 8am. Right in the valley in Heffley Creek, there was a Husky gas station, which we took advantage of and filled up the tank. Since it even had a liquor store, we also wanted to replenish our beer supply 🍺 - but unfortunately we couldn't do that - it only opens at 9am, as an employee informed us - so we learned something new again 😁

We quickly covered the distance to Clearwater. It was only 10am, but we still went to the reserved KOA campground and took care of all the formalities. The assigned spot was already free and so we had a nice breakfast there.

With renewed strength, we went to the Wells Gray Visitor Center to get information about the park and off we went. We started with the highest waterfall, the Helmcken Falls, which was the most impressive. It is a waterfall of the Murtle River and falls 141m into the depths. The Dawson Falls are not as tall, but equally impressive with their 90m width. At the end of the valley, we also visited the Spahats Falls, which are also very impressive with their 75m height. We walked along the 1km long Shaden Trail, from where you can see the Clearwater River.

Today it was very warm with 27 degrees Celsius, so we relaxed a bit at the campground before going to Hop 'N' Hog for dinner. The restaurant is 250m away from the CG and known for craft beer and the huge grill plate.

Distance driven: 217km

Conclusion: It was beautiful
