Santa Clara is also known as Che Guevara City, as the capture of the city was an important historical event and paved the way to Havana. Accordingly, there are many monuments and museums here.
Tren Blindado:
This is an armored train that was also captured by Che's men.
Nowadays it is a museum that displays photographs and objects from the battle. We happened to walk by and just went in, it didn't cost anything. At least not for us :D We must have walked past the ticket booth and no one noticed ;)
Estate Che y Nino:
The statue depicts Che holding a boy in his arms. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of the statue because I only saw it while passing by. We were sooo close, but a few meters ahead there was another monument and we thought that was it. So unlucky :D
Monumento y Memorial de Che Guevara:
A huge memorial site (about 18,000m²) with a large mausoleum, a statue of Che in the center, and a wall area next to it showing the stages of the war.
Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the museum because it was closed that day. But we have a knack for things like that ;)
Other than that, we just strolled around the streets, as always :D
