Yesterday we continued through the less touristy part of the Pindos Mountains. The road was more like a small street, occasionally there were sections missing, and the villages were narrow. But the landscape was once again a feast for the eyes. Steep mountains, and in some places, we could still see small patches of snow. We also crossed the Aoos River where its reservoir was located. Occasionally, we saw sections of the forest that had burned. The tree trunks were black and there was still the smell of smoke. Fire stations were set up at well-visible places. It is admirable that there are even connecting roads here. The roads are constantly damaged by falling rocks and landslides. Eventually, we reached 1700m in a winter sports area with a ski lift and chalets. After leaving the area, we were in the Greek low mountain range, so to speak. We spent a quiet night at a small lake.
This morning we drove to the parking spot with Locus Navigation via small gravel roads, where we stood on the first day of our trip. We are now standing here in peace, the cake 🍰 is in the oven (after all, it's Sunday 😁). I'm going to take a dip in the river for a refreshing swim.
