On Monday we continued to Dunedin, on the way we stopped at the Boulders, a spot by the sea known for its round stones. We then camped near a horse racing track in the countryside of Dunedin.
On Tuesday we went to the Otago Museum in Dunedin, exploring the city and the steepest street in the world. We camped again just outside of Dunedin, almost directly on the beach.
The next morning we made a short stop at a small chocolate factory in Dunedin and then headed north to Mount Aspiring National Park. On Thursday we visited some waterfalls, the Blue Pools, and the Tauparikaka Marine Reserve on the coast. The landscape here reminded us a bit of Africa.
On Friday we continued north on the Glacier Highway. We visited the Fox & Franz Josef Glacier.
In the evening we camped at Lake Mahinapua.
The next day we went through Greymouth and Westport to the next campsite. On the Coastal Highway, we stopped at Paparoa National Park. Here you can see the so-called Pancake Rocks and Blow Holes.
To conclude the week, we continued heading north and visited Lake Hanson, as well as a valley with a red-brown river. In the evening, we headed west to a camping site.
