last day in the capital of Alberta

The large shopping center 'City Centre' is located in downtown. It is divided into West City Centre and East City Centre on the ground floor due to a street going through it, but it is connected on the 1st and 2nd floors.

'Ice District' is a highly regarded sports and entertainment district in Edmonton. One can find the Rogers Place there, which is the largest sports venue in North America.

The Edmonton City Hall, the art gallery, and the museum are not far away. The latter is considered the largest in western Canada. Since I am not the typical museum-goer, I only looked at it from the outside.

On my way to the highlight of the day, I walked through Sir Winston Churchill Square and Canada Place. The former is the main square of the city where many public events and festivals take place, but on the day of my visit, I was the only person there. The pink building is the Canada Place of the city, where the government of western Canada sits.

When I left the building and went down the stairs, I had a picturesque view of the North Saskatchewan River. The sky was blue, the sun in perfect light, and the water barely visible through the snow-covered ice floes. I needed a few minutes here, so overwhelmed was I.

On my way home, I walked through the 15-hectare Louise MC Kinney Riverfront Park to the Walterdale Bridge. The bridge is well-known in Edmonton and is supposedly often illuminated in the evenings. Unfortunately, it wasn't illuminated during my visit, but I did enjoy a beautiful sunset with a view of the skyline.

In summary, I am glad I didn't cancel my plans and visited the city.
