On our first morning in Frisco, we get up early to take the bus to Fisherman's Wharf and combine it with our San Francisco Citypass, which includes a visit to Alcatraz. We have already booked the visit to Alcatraz from home. Book it as soon as you know when you will be in San Francisco. The tours are always booked out and it's really worth seeing the island. We recommend the Night Tour as it offers a unique feeling, but unfortunately it was already fully booked for us.
At the ship's landing place, you can then combine the Citypass with the trip to Alcatraz, so that you only have to pay the price difference from the trip to Alcatraz to the Citypass.
This offers many advantages such as free use of public transportation including the cable cars. You can also visit the California Academy of Sciences, an aquarium, and the Exploratorium (www.citypass.com/san-francisco).
Next, we use our Citypass and go to the nearby Exploratorium where you can explore various natural science phenomena with simply presented experiments. You can do a lot here yourself, experience it yourself, feel it and try it out.
After that, we walk to the nearby cable car station to take a ride on the famous means of transportation, but unfortunately it's so crowded that we can't make ourselves stand in line.
So we walk up the street to maybe get a place in a cable car at a stop further up. However, no one gets off here, so the cars don't even stop. So we walk to a bus stop and take the bus towards Crockett Street. The famous street with the most curves.
It's very crowded and all the tourists want to have the best picture. So after our stopover, we take the next cable car and continue. After a short ride, we unfortunately have to get off as we have reached the final stop, Union Square.
Here we go to one of the many shopping centers and take a stroll through the building. Since we are quite tired and don't really know what else to do today, we take the bus back to the hotel. For dinner, we want to go back to the same restaurant as yesterday, but it's so crowded that we definitely don't want to stand in line and continue walking to eat at an Italian restaurant nearby.
