Miyajima - you beautiful island
You opened my eyes, you little island. This morning, I went up to the 15th floor for breakfast. Last night, I sat in front of the Atomic Dome for 2 hours, and today I could also look at it while drinking orange juice. After that, I was so energized for the tour to Miyajima. I definitely wanted to take a day trip to this sacred island of the Japanese, which was already decided early on in the planning for my trip to Japan. On this island, no life is born or die. It got its name because it is home to many shrines, and it is mostly known for its red Torii gate, which is affectionately called the floating shrine by the locals. With the ferry, I could go to Miyajima for free because I have a Japan Pass, which reminded me a lot of Kiel with its Kiel Fjord Taxi. When I arrived in Miyajima, the many deer and deer here caught my attention, which simply roam freely in front of the train station and throughout the city and have gotten used to people. Then I went to the cable car station to get information about the prices for a ride up and down, but it was too expensive for me, so I decided to only take one ride. That was a good decision, even though my legs will probably feel different tomorrow. Yes, the 2.5 km up to the observatory of Mount Misen was tough with 1-meter stairs and slippery passages, but I have to say it was really fun to be physically active and do sports. But the view was worth every drop of sweat. Such a beautiful panorama, you could see every little island surrounding Hiroshima, mountains, and even watch a glider circling around Mount Misen. So impressive and sooo beautiful, I haven't seen Japan like this before, or it's just showing me that I'm far from done here. I still have a few more days in Japan and I will definitely come back 100%.
