Right now I'm sitting in a small café in Rochechouart. I spontaneously stopped in this small town as I was passing through. Picturesque, quiet, and with a beautiful castle. I'm sure I'll find a nice café here for my morning coffee. I skipped it earlier because I was parked at the lake in a slanted position and there was a woman sitting in her car in front of my door.
The only café in town is owned by a middle-aged French woman who has decorated it so lovingly that you immediately feel at home. Contrary to the other guests, I sit inside because it looks so nice and cozy in there. The owner is a bit stressed because she still has a lot to prepare for the day. I sympathize with her and would have loved to help her with the preparations... :D After all the guests have their coffee, she can finally take a breath and I can ask her some questions about her restaurant operation. My French is verrry rusty, even more so than on the way here. So it's fortunate for me that she speaks some German.
After taking a walk through the town and to the castle, I stop by again for a galette (crepe made with buckwheat). It's filled with vegetables, egg, and goat cheese. It wasn't until later that I realized the difference to classic crepes. The grain! Galettes are made with buckwheat flour. That means I've made galettes before :)
