Coffins and valleys and not just sunlit sides..

Our magical parking spot from last night was a bit noisy until midnight, because the super cool teenagers, who were probably already of legal driving age + 3 months, were doing burnouts with their junk cars on the gravel parking lot and then driving around us all night from the village to the beach and back. In the morning, a nice Croat pointed out to us that camping is not allowed here.. we nodded politely and said: okay, we're not doing it anyway.. then he was satisfied.. It's obvious; of course we didn't sleep there, it would be absurd to think that we slept there, at 8 in the morning, with the motorhome on the beach and just set up the breakfast table.. mhm.. we all believed that for sure ;)

Then the next day, around 10 o'clock, we wanted to leave the island via the only, barely two-lane bridge, which ends in an intersection without any rules on both sides. This lack of rules causes a lot of traffic congestion. There is supposedly always about 100 meters of traffic jam here, but on Saturday morning, of course, we were right in the departure traffic.

I have to tell you a little something about this bridge now, so we'll switch writers briefly ;) We spontaneously decided to go to Trogir; we're not good with making plans.. I think we've only had Bohinj on the itinerary so far ;) Anyway, I diligently navigated us to Trogir, because it's a small Dubrovnik and all.. gave directions and off we went RIGHT IN the supposed after-work traffic - which is probably just the normal traffic before the bridge, but on the aforementioned bridge.. I couldn't believe it! It all seemed so familiar.. the bridge, and then the road, and the whole town.. yes, of course! I've been here before, 2 years ago on vacation! That island behind it.. I know it! Funny, I really wouldn't have known if someone had asked me beforehand, and I would have insisted: no, I haven't been to Trogir.. Why can't I remember the names of places well.. Anyway, regarding this bridge, I had my second Aha moment on this trip, when we maneuvered ourselves into the departure traffic promptly at 10 o'clock on Saturday... Well, I know that too.. how stupid! I should have known better!

Back to Markus; But we made lemonade out of lemons (literally) and parked Johann near the historic city center in the congestion-free area, not without driving through half the island first, uphill, downhill, through narrow alleys, or sometimes better not and reversing out again.. to get to the other side of the traffic jam and the city to visit it and stroll through the narrow alleys - also very sweet, winding.. mega smooth stones on the ground, polished by the many tourists.. admired luxury yachts, poured liters of coffee and beer into Michelle and then continued around 4 o'clock.

We also made a brief stop in Omis, the castle ruins look really cool hanging on the mountain.. of course we also climbed up. Otherwise, Omis is like all the other Croatian cities so far... sweet, winding, old.. but they really messed up with the ugly part of town that they built there on their peninsula with block buildings.. probably in the 80s or so.. stupid..

Today we also encountered a funeral..

An eternal funeral procession wound its way up the mountain (we were on the coastal road, which was very steep, narrow and winding), apparently the procession led from the church to the cemetery..

Now we are at a campsite, I don't know its name, but it's cocktail happy hour (or rather happy day...) at the campsite bar, so we're going to check it out now. The sea is roaring, it's pleasantly warm in the evening.. vacation :)
