Unfortunately, I can't manage to sleep in again and wake up around 07:30. I play around with my phone for a bit. An hour later, out of nowhere, I feel like someone is moving our bed. The shaking gets stronger - is there a freight train passing right behind our house, because that's exactly what it feels like. After about ten seconds, there's a stronger shake for a moment and then everything is still again. Jonna, who has been awakened by the movements and rumbling, sits up completely confused - we look at each other in slight shock: 'Was that an earthquake just now?'. Just yesterday, we received questions from friends and family asking if we were okay because there was apparently a strong earthquake in Indonesia, of which we didn't notice anything at all. That made us a bit more sensitive to the topic, which didn't necessarily help us react more calmly to the situation this morning.
We go out to the veranda and look around. A group of locals stands below at the edge of the harbor and immediately looks up at us - they first say something like 'Everything is fine, no panic', paired with a thumbs-up; then they laugh and shout at us: 'That was your alarm clock!'. Very surreal experience.
Today, we didn't plan anything at all. After breakfast, we return the scooter to the rental ('just leave it and leave the key'), go back to our room, and spend the afternoon planning our trip a bit further. For example, we already book our campervan for Australia.
So we take care of everything necessary and relax for the rest of the day. Jonna goes to the beach, I write a bit on the blog.
In the evening, we get something to eat again and enjoy the last sunset on this paradise island, because we're already moving on tomorrow.
