The end of my journey or Budapest, short and sweet

February 14th to 16th, 2018

Originally, I wanted to go to Slovakia. However, it's not worth it there in the winter. Except for snowboarding, but I can do that in the Harz Mountains as well. So, straight towards Budapest. In the "Polski" bus, it took me 8 hours and 20 euros to get from Krakow to Budapest. When I arrived, a taxi driver tried to trick me. He showed me the city, told great stories, and then turned off the taxi meter. "He wanted to earn something for himself so that his boss wouldn't notice." Yeah, right 😂. Well, I'll see what happens and let him take me to the hostel. Since I didn't have any data volume left, I was dependent on the taxi driver because without it, google maps doesn't work.

After eight weeks in Asia, I was already used to brazen taxi drivers and asked after arriving how much I should pay. 30 euros!!! 😂 For 30 minutes and 3 kilometers. No way! Stupid for him, that there was a calculation table on the passenger seat and that I have learned something about numbers. I paid ten euros and even that was actually too much.

The youth hostel was great. I had a six-bed room all to myself and it was comfortable too. Wi-Fi and a power outlet rounded off the stay.

On Thursday there was a surprise. I actually wanted to continue traveling for three more weeks, but things turned out differently.

I had experienced everything on this journey that I had imagined. I have seen places that blew me away, I have drunk so much rice beer, which also blew me away, and met many great people. I have gained many new impressions and have been able to leave behind many things.

There were moments when I thought about staying in Shanghai, Krakow, or Koh Tao. But is that really my reality?

I don't think so.

I booked a plane ticket and on Friday evening, February 16th, 2018, my world trip ended at Hamburg Airport.

It ended where I had started ten weeks earlier without a beard and great experiences.

It was a great journey and one of the best things I have ever experienced.

I am grateful to everyone who has read my blog and participated in my journey.

Perhaps we will grab our backpacks together and travel to the wide world, where there is still so much to discover. 😃

Yours,

Tobias Ladewig aka "Twobeeers" on February 24th, 2018.
