First plus point: about 5-10 degrees warmer than in Melbourne and a little less windy 😀
This time, we were extremely lucky with the choice of our hostel! On top of that, on the first evening, within an hour, we formed a group of 7 people with whom we explored Sydney for the following days 😊
Our roommate, who slept below me, was from France and in a short small talk, it turned out that she works here as a stripper to earn money.. Well, to each their own 😀 It got a little disgusting on the last day, though, when a giant bison rat walked around in the lobby and tried to crawl under the floorboards, and cockroaches were crawling in a friend's cereal bowl 🤤 but everything was alright as long as there were no spiders or snakes 😂
On the first night, the two of us went to the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge and sat comfortably on the promenade with a bottle of wine.. Until two rangers (some kind of police there) came and informed us that drinking alcohol is not allowed in Sydney except in bars and restaurants, and the fine would be $250 🤤 Luckily, they took pity on us because we really didn't know and had just arrived - narrowly escaped that one 😀
The next day, we went again in sunny weather to the Opera House and wanted to go up to the Harbour Bridge, where Heidi Klum, Will Smith, and many others stood. Well, unfortunately, it didn't happen because it would have cost $350 per person, and that's only because it wasn't the weekend (on weekends it's $550)... unfortunately, we are not millionaires and had to forego it 😀
The other two days, we spent at Bondi Beach and Manly Beach!
At Bondi Beach, we did the Coastal Walk to Congee with our new group, which is an hour-long walk along the coast with great viewpoints 😊 At Manly Beach, we joined two Australians and played beach volleyball - it was really cool!!
So... everyone here can immediately say #teamsydney or #teammelbourne when it comes to Melbourne and Sydney! But to be honest, it's really hard for us. Melbourne is probably nicer to live in because everything happens in the center and the city is really beautiful! However, Sydney definitely impresses with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge - it's simply a breathtaking backdrop! But in the end, we are leaning a little more towards Melbourne 😊
