Lake Tekapo (NZL)

At Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, the best place to observe stars. Globally, the place ranks second.

There is even an observatory there. Unfortunately, a star tour is very expensive, so I had to settle for watching the stars without a telescope or guide.

Tags like at night, the Church of the Good Shepherd is the tourist highlight.

Naturally, in addition to the incredibly bright blue glacier lake and the many lupines on the shore - which have to serve for a lot of photos.

As in many places in New Zealand, you can also hike here. I hiked the circuit to Mt. John, the observatory is also located on this mountain. Since you can also drive up the mountain by car, the hiking trail is not very crowded. But the view you have on the way up to Lake Tekapo is really great.
