On Wednesday, we got up early to tackle the approximately 568km journey to Denham: infinitely long stretches that seem to go on forever and somehow never end. However, the whole thing is made more enjoyable by some really beautiful landscapes.. and in any case, you just enjoy every second here.. no matter where and how.
Then we had breakfast at Hutt Lagoon, a pink lake that we paid a visit to on the way: truly impressive and surreal. By the way, the color is caused by a special type of algae.
The wild, long journey continued, passing numerous kangaroos that had been hit by cars (or maybe they were just sunbathing by the roadside?!;).
One highlight along the way was definitely Shell Beach, which is made up entirely of shells. With its vast expanse and crystal-clear water, we took some cool photos here and enjoyed the sun. We then continued - extremely adventurous - along an unpaved sand/gravel road to Eagle Bluff, about three kilometers from the main road, which is an impressive viewpoint overlooking two beautiful bays. It should be noted at this point that we're actually only allowed to drive on paved roads with Rainer, but both he and Flo were really excited about the adventure and managed to convince the apprehensive and hissing Nadia.
In the end, we arrived safely in incredibly windy Denham, where we enjoyed the afternoon by the pool in the sun.. with a little piccolo, of course. 😛
Life is tough..
Take care, Knut!
