Sopot - Sun and Sea

Can you capture the wind, can you capture the sky in a picture, or can you capture the vastness of the sea in a photograph? Unfortunately, the feeling of vacation that comes with sun and sea is very difficult to capture in images.

I spent my last day of vacation on the endless sandy beaches south of Gdynia.

I followed Nathan's suggestion and first visited picturesque sandstone cliffs, which offered a particularly natural view of the Gulf of Gdańsk. The sky was still cloudy and the alternation of clouds and light was dramatic and staged. The cliffs were part of a small nature park.

Afterwards, I decided to walk the five kilometers to the nearby Sopot along the beach. The sun fought through, a fresh breeze tickled my nose, the cool Baltic Sea washed over my feet in the sand, and small beach pavilions invited me to have coffee and beer. Since I had forgotten my bathing suit and found the water a bit too cold, I limited myself to strolling. Rarely have I felt so sophisticated. Only the seaside resort of Sopot would heighten the feeling even more.

An endless pier, a grand hotel, a spa house, a wooden pier, numerous ice cream and waffle stands, and legions of tourists - a seaside resort like a painting. I felt transported back to the year 1900, the heyday of the Baltic Sea resorts. In the center, the church with the picturesque name "Maria Meeresstern" reminded me of the city's history as a fishing village. "Stella maris
