Today I wandered through seas of cornfields again, just like yesterday. Endless paths of fields and meadows, and nowhere a soul in sight. Many beautiful field flowers bloom by the roadside and the larks chirp, or were they larches? Hmmmm...
Sometimes, suddenly, an old man or an old woman stands by the roadside selling something to earn a little extra. Drinks, fruit, cherries, or even their own crafts. Crosses, scallop shells, or something similar.
Impressive was the first bar by the roadside this morning. I had been walking through a beautiful field landscape for about an hour when suddenly I saw the huge ruins of an old Gothic church. The closer I got, the clearer I heard Renaissance/Baroque guitar music. It was very impressive with the huge pointed arches, columns, and cloisters of the cathedral. When I turned the next corner, I came across a rather creative but beautiful bar with a talkative nice gentleman who sold coffee, drinks, fruit, and pastries. He lived in a caravan next door and had built everything himself. This man had created a truly magical and inviting atmosphere. Simple, joyful, and touching. The gentleman also mentioned that he has a truffle farm. He showed me real truffles and pictures on his phone of the plantation with special trees planted for truffle cultivation.
After that, I continued on my way. Later, I realized that I had never paid for my coffee. I felt very sorry about that for a while. The gentleman was exceptionally kind and had left a lasting impression with his little kingdom.
Then it was back through fields and meadows. Always straight ahead.
The weather is pleasant. Not too hot, just the right amount of wind. Along the way, you frequently come across small crosses or memorial stones on the roadside, reminding you of people who have passed away on the Camino. It's quite strange and not particularly fun to pass by these places again and again.
