Ubud, oh where do I start...
After two relaxing days with my friends Pam and Mitch in Canggu, I went straight to Ubud - one of the most beautiful places in Bali for me!
The traffic and the city itself are totally noisy and chaotic. That's why I looked for a hostel a little outside the city. It was beautifully situated between rice fields, where fireflies were buzzing at night.
On my first day, I met two guys from Germany, an Italian girl, and a Dutch guy, whom I spent the next few days with.
There is so much you can do in Ubud. We went to the Monkey Forest, visited various temples and the famous Tegallalang rice terraces, walked through the rice fields, I took a silver making course and went rafting...
A great experience for me was seeing one of the traditional Balinese dance performances in the temple. Unfortunately, I didn't understand the story because of the language barrier, but it was still nice to experience something like that. (You can google it or watch videos on Youtube, if you like, just for the music alone.) We realized that the performance was over when the men in the orchestra suddenly all got up, jumped on their scooters, and drove away, while the audience was still sitting. I haven't experienced that before. ;-)
In addition, I attended two yoga classes in Ubud. It was sometimes quite exhausting, but I felt really good and balanced afterwards. I have decided to do yoga more often from now on. Let's see if I can do it...
