This morning we saw something German in Japan for the first time! Because we visited the "German House Naruto". In the entrance hall, we found familiar German food for sale. But the main focus of the house is the shared history of Germany and Japan, which developed after World War I. From 1917-1920, there was a prisoner-of-war camp near Tokushima with about 1,000 soldiers from the German Empire. This led to the current partnership between Tokushima Prefecture and the state of Lower Saxony.
We discovered a whole new world with a visit to a temple. Inside the temple, all of our senses were engaged, which had a very soothing effect on us. The smell of incense, the candlelight, the impressive decorations, the statues, and the enchanting garden with the sound of water fascinated us.
In the afternoon, we visited the "Itano Factory". This belongs to a pharmaceutical company that produces medicines and dietary supplements worldwide. The production in Tokushima mainly uses soybeans, which are processed into bars, drinks, and other snacks. We even got to taste the special products. We were even allowed to enter the company's "biotope". That ended our day. We now have to process the many new impressions and information calmly.
