After a 17-hour journey, we arrived in Asunción this morning at 7:25. We were warmly welcomed by our coordinator at a temperature of 30 degrees, which is quite appropriate for this time of day. Ricardo invited us to have a typical Paraguayan breakfast, where we could try Chipa, Mbeju, and Cocido for the first time. After exchanging money and receiving a Paraguayan mobile number, we already felt almost at home. Apart from the fact that I can hardly understand anyone because the accent and pronunciation have nothing to do with the Spanish I learned.
Our host family also welcomed us very warmly, and we feel more than welcome here. However, until I arrived at my new temporary home, I had briefly forgotten that we are in South America. It will probably take a few more days for me to get used to the standard of living here.
