Death Valley 9/23/18

प्रकाशित: 24.09.2018

We spent the night in a cute little motel in the town of Beatty, as Beatty is right next to the Hells Gate to Death Valley. From here, depending on the direction, you can reach the hottest point on earth, where temperatures can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius (sometimes even more in the summer). The 42 degrees we experienced on our route were enough for us, the Mustang's air conditioning had to work hard 😄

The route towards Lake Isabella offers some spectacular views. But first, we made a stop in the ghost town of Rhyolite, although it wasn't that exciting. The old houses are partly enclosed by fences, which doesn't look great in photos.....

The next stop was another wow-moment: Zabriskie Point with its bizarre erosion landscapes that were formed from the furnace creek that dried up millions of years ago. Today, Furnace Creek is home to a popular golf course that looks like an oasis in the desert.

We continued through Devil's Corn Field to the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, real sand in an otherwise barren stone desert 😜 It is always surprising how the landscapes on our tour regularly change: from green mountain slopes to rock deserts, from lush forests to bare rocks in all possible colors, in between there is pastureland and then nothing as far as the eye can see...

The Highway 190 through the Panamint Mountains led us to another viewpoint, Father Crowley Point, which offers an impressive view of Rainbow Valley, a parallel valley to Death Valley. From here, you can also see the further course of Highway 190, which is equally impressive due to its upward path 😅

In the afternoon, we reached our accommodation at Lake Isabella, a beautiful reservoir with a beach area, but there was not much going on. Pretty exhausted from the many impressions of the day, we called it a day with a few photos 😊
