My phone is a bit of a cheater. I actually prefer taking photos with my camera, but my smartphone has a few special tricks up its sleeve. Especially in bad weather, the phone camera gets the most out of the subject.
I always say: No matter how grey the weather is, my smartphone can turn it blue!
In fact, we hardly had any sun during our visit here in Marseille this year. And yet my photos still look pretty decent.
I didn't take many photos anyway, because there is already a nice travel report of mine about Marseille that I wrote in 2021. You can find it here:

What we didn't manage to do was take a look at the Cathédrale de la Major. I think it was renovated at the time. Since it is really very impressive, I would like to add it to my list as another tip.
It is not only impressive because of its sheer size, but also has an almost exotic appearance.
When I entered this church, I couldn't help but think of places of worship in southern Spain. The Arab dominance in Spain for over 600 years gave rise to a Muslim culture. Former mosques were later converted into churches, but retained their oriental appearance. This is exactly what the Cathédrale de la Major in Marseille has.
However, it was only built between 1852 and 1896 and received its Romanesque-Byzantine appearance.
Another tip is to stroll along the beach promenade on the outskirts of the city. Marseille may not have a fine South Sea beach, but at least it has access to the sea. And of course, France's second-largest city doesn't look perfect in many places. There are also a few ugly blocks here on the beach.
We took the bus from the city to the David statue and then walked back. Here you will find lots of runners and cyclists as well as walkers.
In any case, we had a varied program in Marseille, because of course there was another highlight of our visit: Rammstein played at the Velodrome.
You can read what it was like there here:
