WE WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY AND PEACEFUL YEAR 2017!

The New Year's Eve was very calm at the lighthouse, there were hardly any fireworks etc., also from the city of Peniche there was not much to see or hear.

Then around noon we made our way to the city of Obidos, about 50 km away. Everything we have seen so far in Portugal in terms of old cities and buildings was exceeded here. The entire city wall is completely unscathed, you can walk around the whole city on the unsecured, sometimes very steep parapet. When two visitors meet up there, it gets a bit crowded. Actually quite dangerous, as it goes very deep down in some places, my stomach tingled several times, especially when children came too close to the edge thoughtlessly. The narrow alleys with the small shops, cafes, and restaurants were very nice to look at. Cars can only drive on a few streets, there were hardly any in the city.

The weather was not so good today, it was cloudy and relatively cool at 15 degrees. The Portuguese wear hats and gloves. :-)

Later we decided to drive another 50 km inland, to Alcobaca. We are now driving in small stages towards home.
