Sheep staring at people (New Zealand part 39)

During our night at Lake Pukaki, we had a very nice view, but it got stormy in the late evening. We were shaken in our motorhome during the night and woke up from the loud wind noises. The next day was rather rainy and cloudy. However, we were able to admire a double rainbow over the lake.

Despite the rain, we made a stop in the town of Lake Tekapo (on Lake Tekapo - creative naming). Only 300 residents live here, but they are striving to increase tourism.

The two main attractions of the town (besides its location right on the lake) are the Church of the Good Shepherd, built in stone in 1935, and the bronze sculpture of a sheepdog. The sheep farmers valued their dogs here so much that they even erected a memorial for them.

We found a parking space on a vineyard near Christchurch for overnight stay (which is not easy in New Zealand). There was a wine tasting where we could test the range of the small winery.

We made ourselves comfortable in the motorhome with our newly purchased wine. Some curious observers gathered: the flock of sheep from the neighboring field was interestedly looking into our living room.

Later in the evening, we noticed that the field was empty and the sheep were wandering between the vine rows. They were probably used there as lawnmowers. But we had the impression that they also nibbled on the vines...

In the morning, we had to stop by the Britz branch in Christchurch so that after 7 weeks with a loose connection, the charging cable for our navigation system could finally be replaced. To our surprise, this worked completely uncomplicated and fast. The employee proudly explained that she had stolen the cable from another motorhome especially for us, as they do not have such things in stock. Together with the fridge repaired in Dunedin, two-thirds of the motorhome's defective items have already been repaired...
