Today we said goodbye to Claudia, Darren and Marcus and are now on the roads of Australia. It was very nice staying with the Neilson/Fiedler family. They were very nice hosts and made us feel very comfortable. They will be leaving expensive Sydney and moving to Perth in the new year. They plan to buy a house there. Darren told us how much houses cost in Sydney. For us: unbelievably expensive. Perth is definitely much cheaper.

We are looking forward to their visit to us. Christine, Claudia's mom, will also be coming.

Darren gave us a tip on how to get out of Sydney without getting stuck in too much traffic. One fifth of all Australians live in Sydney: 5 million people! The tip was good! We must have driven at least 50 km through the city and its suburbs without encountering any traffic jams. SUPER! Thanks, Darren.

We have driven about 350 km, mostly along the coast. We have just checked into a motel. We are in Batemans Bay, right on the coast.

Tomorrow we will continue heading south. Due to the long drive, we only have a few photos today. I couldn't take a picture of a group of kangaroos along the way, but I did manage to snap a photo of a parrot that perched next to our car when we parked at the motel.
