The sun was shining, the sky was blue...it could only be a good day. And it was! 😊
Right now we are enjoying a good can of beer (I actually felt like it for once 😅) from the local brewery, Moab Brewery, and we are ready and composed enough to write new travel reports. Carsten is currently writing Day 13 + 14.
As the title suggests, today we went to Dead Horse Point State Park. Legend has it that in the 19th century, cowboys used the high plateau, which could only be reached via a narrow mountain ridge, as a horse corral or to drive and catch horses there. There was no escape, as it steeply descended on all sides, and the only way out was across the 27m wide, fenced mountain ridge. For unresolved reasons, the cowboys left many horses trapped there, which then died of thirst with a view of the Colorado River.
We strolled along the rims and enjoyed the great view to the fullest. The sun burned on our skin and a refreshing breeze blew. Our mind was clear! ☺ We spent a few hours here.
So we didn't have much time left for Canyonlands National Park, which was right next door. We drove to some "overlooks". But we made a short detour to the famous Mesa Arch (a stone arch).
That's it for today! 🤠🤘
