Milford Sound

प्रकाशित: 13.01.2018

Located deep in the fjordland and surrounded by giant mountain peaks is the town of Milford Sound. It rains over 200 days a year here, it's teeming with tourists, there are no last-minute campsites, and there's a tropical climate with lots of biting sandflies. Doesn't sound great, does it? However, we all agree that this fjord is a must-see. Just the drive along the Milford Road is an experience, with long straight roads at first, then winding up the mountain, an incredible small tunnel (which certainly doesn't comply with any EU safety standards), and finally the descent with breathtaking views. And then you have to get out onto the fjord and see the waterfalls, glaciers, seals, and Deepwater Basin. The latter is at a depth of 10 meters and showcases the fascinating natural environment at this depth... I don't know what else to write about it... just see for yourself or better yet, go there!
