Get up early and arrive in Wellington at 10:00. Park at the Te Papa Museum and start strolling along the waterfront. First, have an espresso from an Airstream caravan cafe. Then visit the Visitor Information and walk through the shopping street, between skyscrapers and a few well-preserved old houses, to the Cable Car. Along the way, we eat sushi. Sushi shops are as common in NZ as kebab shops are in Germany. Take the cable car up to the botanical garden. Walk through the botanical garden, past the rose garden, back to the city along a very well-designed path. Stop by Nespresso. Despite the long distance we have walked, Malte is doing well. A man is playing the cello (The Swan) on the waterfront. Malte doesn't want to leave. He is fascinated by the cello. We leave the city and go to Evans Bay, to a freedom camping site by the harbor. Have sweet corn for dinner. Malte is in bed and falls asleep at 7:30pm.
