28.10.18 - first time surfing

Today we were supposed to leave and go to Surfers Paradise...But Ines won a surf lesson for two the night before which we could redeem today. The night before, there was a BBQ in our hostel and trips, excursions, etc. were raffled off.

So we changed the travel plans for the next 3 days and extended one night in Byron Bay.

Actually, I wasn't really looking forward to surfing. I never planned on surfing in Australia because I never thought I could stand on a board... 😝

The surf instructor gave us some information and instructions and then we were already in the water and lined up. The teacher then picked out the waves and pushed the person who was up next into the wave. I was soooo afraid of standing up, but actually the first time I was already sitting well on the board, and after a few more tries, I even stood up! Not very well and not for long, but that was more than I expected 😁

So time passed, we lined up again and then we had our chance. At some point it started to rain heavily... But anyone can go surfing in the sun 😜

In the end, I stood up really well about 2 or 3 times and I was very happy with the result. 😊
