Yesterday morning around 8 o'clock we arrived in the new place, Byron Bay. However, we could only check into the hostel room after 11 o'clock... So we sat in the reception area and planned our further tour of the East Coast. The hostel is bigger than the last two, so it doesn't have the same charm. But it's still OK... In the afternoon, we explored the town. It's not really big, but it seems to be a popular holiday destination for Australians. There are lots of boutiques and stores in the city... Some of them are a bit spiritual, but that's what Byron is known for. 😜
There's a huge beach, but yesterday it was too cold to go in the water. In the evening, we went to bed quite early because we got up at 4:45 in the morning today. We had signed up for a sunrise tour organized by the hostel. We were driven to the vicinity of the lighthouse, then walked a bit and were able to see the sunrise at the easternmost part of Australia. ☀️
Unfortunately, we didn't have much time there because the hostel bus only gave us about 45 minutes. In the morning, we walked through Byron again with a girl from our room and then went to the beach. At 27 degrees, we were finally able to go in the water 😬👍 The waves are really big! You shouldn't underestimate them and I had a lot of respect for them. Because it got too hot in the midday sun, we went back to the hostel in the shade. In the afternoon, we were drawn back to the water. The hostel is very central, which is very convenient!
Because we had nothing planned for the evening and it's difficult to connect with people in the hostel, we walked back to the beach through the small town center after dinner. It was really busy there! There's a buzz here, it's amazing. Lots of people were out and about! At the beach, we happened to see the moonrise. It was also fantastic because it's a full moon! 🌕
