Today we had one of those rare days to sleep in and I woke up at 6am for the first time... 😝 At 8:30 am, we went shopping right away so that we wouldn't have to suffer in the next few days. We were back in our lovely beach house by 10:30 am (not only can we hear the sound of the sea, but we also have a sea view from the veranda!) and had a big breakfast.
After breakfast, we slowly headed towards Noosa National Park (less than 10 km away), where we wanted to hike a section of the Coastal Track. It was too cloudy for a day at the beach and it didn't get better until around 1:30/2:00 pm (but we had already walked a bit to stretch our legs).
The trail (we only walked 4 km there and back) was beautiful, running through the forest and very close to the roaring sea, with small coves for swimming or dipping our feet in the sea, and great viewpoints like Boiling Pots, Dolphin Point, and Granite Bay.
As a reward for me (and to relax Matthes), we even saw a small koala (🐨) - admittedly, we were pointed to it by two young Australians (he: surfer boy with washboard abs, she: pierced Rastafarian woman - at first glance, too cool to care about anything other than themselves, and as it is here: almost all stereotypes dissolve into nothing (except for the thing with Asians)), otherwise we would have walked right past it (I can't even imagine it)!
We made a quick coffee stop on Hastings Street and bought a hat for Ursula (she lost hers on the last flight...), then we headed back to our little house (did I mention how lovely it is?).
Two-thirds of us went for a walk on our beach (500 meters away) and, like some of the neighbors, enjoyed the sea breeze and admired the surfers catching the last waves.
One-third took a break in the house until dinner was ready. The evening ended with a delicious rosé... tomorrow we're going to the beach...
