Trier - Dangolsheim

प्रकाशित: 27.07.2019

The day started with good news: it was actually 15 degrees cooler as promised! And the announced storms had disappeared. So the planning for the trip to Alsace was very relaxed. After a cozy breakfast without heat waves, we started from Trier towards Saarbrücken, always along the river. The first surprise came directly in Mertert. The navigation system, which has so far only suggested great routes, guided us to a small ferry across the Moselle...wow, that was exciting!

Could the motorcycle maybe tip over when docking? We were observed with great interest by a group of dark-eyed ducks (or geese?), who probably also had their own thoughts. Note the orderly formation... the cantor did not have anything to do with it :-)

But everyone around us, including the ferryman, remained very relaxed, so did we 😀 For 2.80 € we quickly reached the other side and continued.

The weather was drizzly and gloomy, but we were fine with anything below 35 degrees! After a nice ride along the Saar, we finally arrived in France and felt like taking a coffee break... not that easy. The small towns were practically empty, at least there was no one on the streets... and somehow there were no cafes either. Gerhard had discovered a nice lake in the navigation system, probably hoping that a business-minded entrepreneur had built a trendy take-away cafe with a lakeside terrace in German style. Well, hope dies last... what we found was an idyllic fishing lake with small huts, where only one undeterred person had set up a lot of fishing gear.

Unfortunately there were no tourist attractions or even cafes to be seen 😪 After a few more towns, we found a street cafe in Sarralbe, fortunately with an awning... because the next rain shower was approaching. The painted illusion of a southern French evening atmosphere on the wooden shed opposite definitely helped in mentally painting holiday impressions.

All fake, but hard to believe, right?

On the way to Dangolsheim, the sun came out again. The parents of our landlady welcomed us very nicely and explained the really beautiful apartment to us in detail.

And the motorcycle even has its own garage!

And there are garden experts here... does anyone know why you hang several onion bags in the fruit tree to protect it from pests???

Then we went shopping quickly and are now enjoying a relaxed evening. Best regards from Dangolsheim to all of you!

Die Chorgeeignete Vögel sind Nilgänse. Wir haben sie vor ein paar Jahren an der Mosel kennengelernt. Da wir nicht wussten was es für Vögel waren nannten wir sie Schwaganentibis. (Schwan Gans Ente Ibis)
