Many young people go abroad after their high school graduation, and many of them go to Australia, so the chance of meeting someone you know is not that small.
And that's exactly what I was lucky enough to experience at the end of October and beginning of November. It's a really nice feeling to see familiar faces when everything else is new!
Max and Niklas started their journey in Perth, the capital of the state of Western Australia. From there, they flew directly to Melbourne, where we met for a weekend of eating, chatting, and partying :) Their hostel was located right in the city center, so I could easily get there. It was really nice to meet friends from Germany on the other side of the world and explore Melbourne together. Friday night was long: we went from a toga party in the hostel through the city to the fancy Softiel Hotel with breathtaking rooftop views! Saturday and Sunday were spent relaxing at the Queen Victoria Market, trying out food from all over the world :)
Meanwhile, the two of them have flown to New Zealand to meet and travel with two other girls from our year. We will all meet again in Sydney for New Year's Eve, as we rented a house there some time ago. In total, there will be eight people from the Kreuzburg year who are currently scattered across Australia and New Zealand! :)
In early November, I met Daniel and Joschua for an evening in the city, among other things to eat burgers. They had first flown from Germany for a short stop in Hong Kong and then directly to Melbourne, so I could show them a few things and explain what they should definitely visit here.
After the burger, we walked to the hostel, which, unlike Max and Niklas', was a bit further on the outskirts of the city center. Anyway, Daniel told me about his idea to shave his head in Australia, and I was immediately on board! The razor was already ready in the hostel, and with the support of the guys, I got to work :) You can find the video on their YouTube blog.
Daniel was satisfied with my work, and the short hair really suits him well, and boys' hair always grows back quickly anyway :)
Currently, the two of them have moved on to Canberra, and I will also see them again in Sydney on New Year's Eve!
