hey ho,
Today is Wednesday, 08/24/2016, I have already arrived in Jindabyne and have completed my third day at work. So far everything is pretty bad and maybe I will quit soon, so I don't know if it's worth writing about it. If I stay here, I will tell you everything in detail later :).
Now to the beautiful things in life: last Thursday I went to the Blue Mountains with three other people from the organization and a 'supervisor'. It's a national park inhabited by 5 Aboriginal tribes and mostly consists of rainforest. On Thursday morning, we took a bus with a larger group of tourists and went to a zoo where I saw and could pet live kangaroos for the first time.
After that, we went on a short three-hour hike in the Blue Mountains. It was a really nice tour, but you only visited the tourist spots and saw what thousands before you have seen. It was still beautiful, here are some pictures:
Anyway, in the evening we arrived at our hostel in Katoomba and played cards.
The next morning we had to get up early because we had an eight-hour bushwalk ahead of us. We took the train to the meeting point and were welcomed by a hobby Aboriginal person. He was a character, I tell you! He told us stories and dream stories of the Aborigines the whole time and was naturally very connected to nature. In plain English, that means we often had to wait because he had to pet trees and listen to their voices. It was actually super funny and the tour itself was really really good! We got to know the rainforest from a completely different perspective. The paths we hiked were not really paths, as you couldn't even see footpaths sometimes. But enough with words, here come pictures:
On Saturday morning we went to Three Sisters again, but this time to watch an Aboriginal performance and make our own boomerang. Unfortunately, mine didn't look as nice as these:
However, we had a lot of fun. But every fun has its end, so on Saturday afternoon we took the train back to Sydney. There we had to look for a hostel and after some time we found one. The third hostel this week was the Mad Monkeys at Central Park. I had to pay $36 for a night in a tiny room, but that's how it is in the life of a backpacker.
On Sunday I got up early because I had to take the Greyhound bus from Sydney to Jindabyne. The bus ride took a whole 7 hours and cost me $94, a lot of money for something that is probably not worth it :D
But well, we will see. Maybe everything will turn out fine :)
Cheers,
xxx
