Farewell to the island and off to the city of Krabi

प्रकाशित: 23.02.2018

Three weeks on Ko Lanta are now behind us, which we enjoyed very much. It's a great island. For us the perfect mix. Not too crowded yet always something going on. Not a party island, but still many great bars and restaurants. Good food, nice people and still enough affordable accommodation. Let's see if it stays that way in the coming years.

And Nora seems to have really benefited from it. She made a real leap here. Yesterday evening, for example, we were still sitting on the beach when she watched 3 (obviously Swedish) children playing. She said to me that she would like to join in. So I told her to just go over and talk to the children. She hesitated at first because she doesn't speak their language (they were indeed Swedes). And then suddenly my little shy mouse went up to the children, spoke to them, they waved Nora over and all 4 of them were together. They ran up and down the beach for at least half an hour, laughing and having a great time. And I was surprised and proud at the same time. It's so nice to see how open she becomes here and sets new boundaries for herself.

This morning, after breakfast, it unfortunately started. And just like every time before, I cursed the transport via minibus. Apparently, when booking a seat, they never take into account that most people travel with luggage. There is no trunk. So all gaps in the bus are filled and the suitcases and backpacks are stacked on top of each other in the "aisle". There are no seat belts anyway, but we're already used to that.

In Krabi, we were greeted by a heavy downpour. There were no taxis. So we walked to the hotel after the heaviest rain had passed. Luckily, not a long way. But our room is very nice and Nora immediately threw herself on the bed and grabbed the remote control (not that we understand anything that is on TV here).

After a short break in the room, we went out again to the famous night market in Krabi. When we arrived there around 5 pm, all the stands were just being set up, which had the advantage that it wasn't really crowded yet. The food section always opens earlier, so we browsed through the stands, packed sushi, spring rolls, noodles with chicken, and something sweet for dessert, and blended in with the eating crowd! Delicious!!! And a great atmosphere.

Assuming we tolerate the evening feast well, we will finally go on a tour tomorrow morning, this time with the longtail boat. We are excited and will report back.
