THANK YOU for all the great experiences, adventures and memories that made Interrail 2.0 another unforgettable journey. We are sad that these incredible 20 days have passed so quickly. Nevertheless, an ending is always a beginning to a new journey…
Finally, we share some of our very special highlights and moments during Interrail 2.0. Therefore, enjoy reading our ultimate rankings!
Our favourite cities:
1. Stockholm
2. Copenhagen
3. Oslo/Tallinn
Free Walking Tours:
1. Tallinn
2. Oslo
3. Helsinki
4. Copenhagen
5. Warsaw
6. Riga
7. Stockholm
The best accommodations:
1. Rovaniemi Guesthouse Arctic Heart
2. Riga Cinnamon Sally Backpacker's Hostel
3. Bergen YMCA Hostel
Since the first day in the Guesthouse Arctic Heart we probably knew already that no other accommodation can and will keep up with our lovely guesthouse. We paid an incredible cheap amount for an amazing room, as well as super facilities such as a very cozy kitchen and living room. But what made this accommodation most special were the people we met there. Who would have thought that we would come along two Africans and a Japanese community in this little town in the high North? From the beginning they treated us like friends and invited us to an African dinner (no cutlery, just fingers…). The Japanese people showed us how to eat typical Finnish sausages like the Finnish in the very traditional way. We definitely plan to come back to Rovaniemi in one of the upcoming winters to watch the polar lights and to experience the santa claus village when it is covered in snow. No doubt we will stay in the Arctic Heart!
Places to return
1. Rovaniemi
2. Riga / Warsaw
3. Oslo
As already mentioned in the previous text there are a few reasons to return to Rovaniemi. Most importantly we want to experience the city during winter time when there are the polar lights, santa claus village in an amazing snowy and winterly atmosphere and certainly to rejoin with our lovely friends from Arctic Heart!
Riga and Warsaw were our last destinations therefore we couldn’t spent more than a day in either of them. In Riga we did not even get to experience the old town, probably the city’s most attractive sight. And as we already know a good place to stay (Cinnamon Sally Backpacker’s Hostel - ranked #2), there is nothing in our way. And Warsaw is definitely a city for which you need to take a few days in order to fully explore it. It has so much to offer especially history wise!
And regarding Oslo, we thought it was a pity that we could only experience this actually quite beautiful city only in a colour of grey. We would really like to get to know the city from the sunny side ;)
Food
1. Homemade noodle salad
2. Warsaw Aioli Salmon
3. Riga Burger / Warsaw Italian restaurant
Snacks
1. BIT Vanilla buns
2. Gifflar cinnamon buns
3. Fruits
The BIT bakery right next to the Oslo Central Station is probably our personal food paradise. These fluffy and soft vanilla buns are a must if you come to Oslo! After the first bite you will know what we are talking about ;)
