Ipoh Tag 2: Flea Market, Temple Hopping, Theme Park

After getting some sleep, as much as you can on a bean bag, I started the day relaxed. Packed my breakfast and found a nice spot nearby where I could eat it. A sports field. That means, others were playing soccer (or rather taking turns shooting on goal...) and I enjoyed my breakfast. Next to it, there was also a public bike course, like a bicycle school, but for everyone. I thought that was pretty cool! From the park, I went to the flea market. It was like a flea market here, only really huge! I walked around for about an hour. Unfortunately, I didn't buy anything, the pieces I liked were too big for my luggage... From the flea market, I went back to the hostel for a short while, then I ordered a ride and went to a street with several cave temples. I visited five temples on that street, all really beautiful. The first one (Ling Sen Tong Temple) was quite kitschy in terms of its figures, but somehow beautiful. It was mostly outdoors. The second one (Nam Thean Tong Temple) was more in a cave, but not as big and colorful. Then I went to a temple that didn't look so public, but I was still allowed to look around. Except for an altar and many benches, there was nothing there. Next, I went to a Buddhist temple. At the entrance, a lady told me that I couldn't go to the back part right now because there was a prayer going on. However, what I was allowed to do was to watch the ceremony. And it was really beautiful. There was a speaker on a loudspeaker, and the others sang, played their instruments, and prayed. Somehow completely different from here (not that I ever attended a church service... but you hear things ^^), but very moving. I felt quite awed! Lastly, I went to a Chinese temple (Sam Poh Tong Temple), which I definitely liked the best (on this street)! Even before the cave, there were... rocks, you know 😃 I don't know what it's called right now, just take a look at the pictures 😉 In any case, it looked so natural, I like that! The cave itself wasn't that spectacular, but it led back outside. There was an enclosure with turtles and another very cool-looking temple. However, since these temples were all supposed to be nothing compared to Kek Lok Tong according to the internet, I went there as well. And it was really worth it! The cave itself is just great, with its stalactites and stalagmites and its whole shape. And inside there are the Indian deities. And if that's not enough, when you come out of the cave, you see a beautiful park! I also spent some time there, enjoying the surroundings and the tranquility. And saw a few animals 😉 Since I had plans for the evening, I couldn't stay forever, so I went back to the hostel, packed my stuff again, and then went to the "Lost World of Tambun" theme park. I had thought about it several times whether I wanted to go or not, but the prospect of relaxation in hot springs ultimately appealed to me, so I treated myself to the evening ticket. When I arrived, I first went to the petting zoo, where, considering its name, you weren't allowed to pet that many animals ^^ but still more than enough! For example, I fed and petted a capybara ❤, as well as a mara. There were also many other animals to see there. (See photos 😉) Unfortunately, Tarantula Alley was closed due to the rain that had just occurred, so no self-therapy for me. Then at 7:45 p.m., there was a short show that served as an introduction to another attraction, the Luminous Forest. Actually, it's just an area where a lot was painted with fluorescent paint and illuminated accordingly, but it was still cool! I even took a tourist photo there ^^ Since I had some time before the fire show, I went back to the petting zoo for a short while, as I hadn't seen everything yet. I was then told that Tarantula Alley was open again. But before that, I went to the fire show. It was also pretty cool. Nothing earth-shattering, but fire always has something to it, and the performers were definitely not untalented! And with the right music in the background, it was really fun! After that, I finally faced my fear of spiders. Once in a cave, there are dark display cases in which you can't see anything. Then you press a button, it gets bright, and you (hopefully) find a tarantula. Really well done and interesting, but if I had seen the spiders from the beginning, it would have been somehow easier... after that, I went back to the front, past the fire show stage, where I took another tourist photo. And then it was already so late that it wouldn't have been worth it to go to the hot springs. So I had everything for my relaxing evening except relaxation... but it was still great, so I fell asleep very happy after this very long day!
