Victoria 2 - City on Foot

рдкреНрд░рдХрд╛рд╢рд┐рдд: 21.08.2024

Super cozy accommodation, slumber bed ЁЯШ┤ When we wake up, goats and chickens are in the garden outside ЁЯШЕ We have mostly planned our day on foot today.

In the north, we visit a small farmers market 'Fickle Fig' (the fickle fig ЁЯШЕ) and buy 2 pieces of the most powerful cake ever!!! Chocolate-caramel and peanut butter chocolate ЁЯдг #foodporn

3 minutes further west along the coast, we stop at Patricia Bay and watch seaplanes in front of us as well as planes from the airport behind us taking off and landing.

We cruise along the east side by the water towards Victoria to the south - it almost looks like Blankenese here. The sun is finally coming out again.ЁЯШКтШАя╕П

We park our car at Beacon Hill Park, as this is one of the few places where you can find free parking.

On the way to a historic sundial, we walk through a lovingly arranged sea of flowers, which also considers several peacocks as their home ЁЯжЪ

We continue strolling and encounter some squirrels and then even 3 deer (mom + 2 fawns), who are munching on the flowers in the front yard ЁЯШЕЁЯШЕЁЯШЕ

At Government House, we find a beautiful park with a view almost all the way to the coast of the USA - it's still a bit cloudy. Here we enjoy our cake and cocoa between ancient oaks тШ║я╕П We also take in some Canadian history about Government House (including the 2 fires in 1899 and 1957) here.

At Craigdarrooch Castle, which seems quite deserted today, we get the impression that Cinderella might look out of the window any moment ЁЯШЕ Almost like in Disney here.

We continue walking through the colorful neighborhood of Fernwood and then turn west to land in Chinatown.

We take our lunch break at Victoria's harbor, where the stairs look similar to those in Hamburg (HafenCity) - just a bit smaller ЁЯШЕ

Our path goes around the harbor to Fisherman's Wharf, where many small colorful houses (similar to houseboats) stand. Overall, we have the feeling that Victoria is very colorful and adorned with lots of colorful flowers.

On our way back, the coast of the USA becomes a bit more visible - it's only about 30-35 km away. After passing 2 enormous cruise ships, a path leads out 762m on a pier into the open sea to a small lighthouse (Breakwater Lighthouse). Here we see a huge starfish underwater and a small seal ЁЯЩВ

Back in the park (around 5 hours and almost 15 km of walking later) at our car, we see geese everywhere ЁЯШЕ and many peacocks - even with a baby peacock ЁЯе░ЁЯе░ЁЯе░

We refresh ourselves in our AirBnB accommodation and take the short walk to the small beach for the sunset - unfortunately, there are again some clouds in the way, but it is still a wonderful view. For our evening ice cream, we gather 2 handfuls of blackberries and look forward to bed ЁЯШЗ
