Magnetic Island & Airlie Beach

प्रकाशित: 13.09.2017

Unbelievable but true. We've been in Australia for over a week now and it feels so unreal. We can't stop being amazed. Each place more beautiful than the other and every new character we meet impresses us.

Now we both lie in two beds in an 8-bed dorm room. In Airlie Beach.

The past few days we traveled from Cairns to Townsville to take the ferry to Magnetic Island.

Simply wow, this island. Incredibly beautiful.

Unfortunately, we only had one full day but we made the most of it. We met a young man from Germany who had a lot of experience with hiking and climbing, and since many people from our hostel were visiting the same tour, we set off together to discover koalas.

We hiked up and down an extremely long and strenuous trail for two hours (at least for us 😂), and in the last minutes, when Lelainas and my strength as well as our patience were running out, we discovered a koala. Double luck because it had a baby with it and all the effort paid off.

But not enough with this hiking spirit, freshly fueled with energy, our company came up with the idea of walking the trail to our next stop instead of waiting for the bus in 45 minutes...

Yep, another 1.5 hour hike. The muscle soreness in our legs won't let us forget that.

However, we still found a koala and lots of other small animals.

At some point, we finally reached our second destination of the day: feeding the wallabies.

At a certain time, these mini kangaroo-like animals emerged from the rocks and bushes and let us feed them.

The day was definitely worth it.

In the evening, we danced with the whole group there and the sunset was simply like a picture book.

A truly dreamy island 🌴!

The next day we moved on. This afternoon we took the ferry back from Magnetic to Townsville and from there we went to Airlie Beach. Our current location.

Within the first two hours, we met two Australian guys, a girl from Sydney, an Italian pizza maker, and five Germans. It's hard to believe but Australia is overcrowded with Germans and English people. 😂

Tomorrow we will sail over the Whitsunday Islands for three days on a trimaran.

Writing the blog is proving to be more difficult than expected. Internet is not available everywhere and above all, you don't want to sit everywhere and stick to your phone. Nevertheless, we will try to keep you up to date as best as possible! 🌞
