Let the adventure begin...

The adventure begins. 6 months in New Zealand, Singapore, and Canada are ahead of us.

All preparations have been completed. The visa is printed and placed in our "important travel folder", along with our passport, tickets, photos, and all other important belongings. Everything worked out just in time. We still need to pick up our friends' bicycle from the city, they forgot to water the flowers, but those are minor details. :)

It's November 30, 2018, and we are standing on Platform 3 of Bielefeld Bahnhof with friends and relatives - holding a glass of champagne or a bottle of beer, toasting to the adventure. The idea of being on the road for 6 months is still very abstract to us and a few tears will be shed during the final farewell and waving, but the joy and excitement of what's to come outweighs it all!!

We take the train to Frankfurt am Main Hbf. From there, we walk to the hotel and get a first impression of what it means to carry our luggage on our backs for the next six months.

We are relieved when we finally arrive. We check into our hotel room for one night and soon go to sleep. The next morning, a shuttle bus takes us to the airport. Our flight departs at 11:40 am, but we need to be there 3 hours earlier.

Neither of us has ever flown for more than 5 hours before, especially not on an aircraft of this size. When we board the Airbus A380, we are impressed. Each seat has a monitor with entertainment programs, such as movies, flight information, and various games and music.

The flight passes in no time at all :). We are so busy with eating, playing games, and watching movies that the 12 hours feel short. After a few hours of sleep and a delicious breakfast, the pilot begins the descent and we land at Changi Airport - SINGAPORE!
