Hell's Gorge Waterfalls

प्रकाशित: 06.10.2018

275 waterfalls cascade down. Here, the water masses of several rivers come together and then split before the waterfall. Complicated? The Paraná River is the border river between Paraguay and Brazil. Part of it flows into the Iguazu River, which then forms the border river between Brazil and Argentina. Still not clear? Brazil and Argentina each have their own national park around the waterfalls - Cataratas (cataracts). To get there, I had to take a walk until I found the right bus line on the main road. The entrance to the park cost 63.30 R$, which is equivalent to 14.30€ due to the strong euro. Then, you are taken to the trail by many tourists in open buses, where you have to share various viewpoints with crowds of people - selfie sticks - it's crazy - everyone is somehow overwhelmed. Thankfully, the 1.2km long trail is organized as a one-way street and for those in a hurry, there is a shortcut (but you will miss out on some things!). Some also let themselves be ripped off by the hotels and get a guide. If you need it, okay. Overall, it's very worth seeing. The weather didn't look good from the hotel window this morning, but it cleared up and was quite pleasant. We were warned not to feed any animals. There were cute and somewhat intrusive coatis (nasenbären) (Coati, or Quati in Guarani).

When I wanted to photograph one of them up close, two of the cute companions had already started to mess with my bag. The males do that too! One of the tourists had accidentally dropped a crumb - and there was already a wild quarrel and squabble among these animals.
