On the early afternoon, I took the train to a place just outside Hiroshima, where the Buddhist temple Mitaki-dera is located. The temple was situated on a small mountain, and the climb was a bit tiring in the midday heat of 36°C, but it was worth it. The temple was peacefully located in the forest, with small streams and waterfalls running through it. I even climbed further up the stairs until I reached the source of the river.
Afterwards, I continued sightseeing by taking the bus to the Shukkeien Garden, which is located in the middle of the city. It was a wonderful place to walk around and admire the beautiful garden. It had a lake with small islands symbolizing either cranes or turtles. In addition to the artificial turtles, I also encountered a real, curious water turtle.
After a short walk, I arrived at Hiroshima Castle. After the bomb, the main tower was completely rebuilt and turned into a museum, which tells the story of the castle's construction and the city's history.
In the hostel, I met some cool people and went to a bar with them in the evening to celebrate.
