.... Homecoming in 1990

Since we were also delayed in Höchst, we arrived a bit late in our home village Gaißau.

We were greeted with cheers already at the entrance of the village and a lot of banners were hung up by the villagers.

The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of a "Zwoarädler" made of tin by Kurt Schertler.

Among us radio operators, everyone had to drink a sip of beer from a "Lai da Tuma - shoe".

The march to the source of the Rhine was indeed a very exhausting but also a very beautiful experience and I'm sure that everyone would do something like this again.
